How to wrap your hands for Boxing and MMA?
At Rigs Fitness we coach in the region of 200 new boxers each year. Boxing is a great sport, and if done correctly any participant will see massive increases in all components of fitness, lose unwanted body fat and feel great! If you’re new to the sport though, you will soon realise that boxing training can be quite taxing on your body – particularly your hands, wrists and arms if you’re not used to punching.
Wrapping your hands is an important part of boxing training. When done correctly a hand wrap will hold the bones in your hand & wrist in the correct position to allow the force produced in a punch to translate down through the arm and out of the body.
We get asked all the time how to wrap your hands for boxing and MMA so here is a quick video of Owner and Head Coach of Rigs Fitness, Sam Smith, showing you how to do it. We recommend that you use 16oz boxing gloves and correctly understand the mechanics of a boxing punch before starting to hit hard.
