Professional Cricket Player Richard Johnson Tells Us About His Fitness Training At Rigs Fitness, Birmingham
Richard Johnson has been a professional cricketer for a number of years now. Starting his career at Warwickshire CCC, where he won the CB40 Title in 2010, and more recently won the County Championship in 2012. Richard was also part of the 2nd Division Championship Winners Derbyshire (where he now plays his cricket) in 2012, and is the first cricketer ever to win both the County Championship and the 2nd Division Championship in the same season.
As a wicketkeeper and batsman, fitness is hugely important to Richard. More specifically, the ability to keep agile and flexible, whilst possessing the explosive power needed in so many movements specific to his sport, and this is exactly what Richard has been working on at Rigs Fitness in Moseley, Birmingham.
Here is what Richard has to say about his training with us at Rigs;
“Sam and I have been great mates for a long time now and since our school days I knew his love, passion and knowledge for sport and training would one day produce something special. In my opinion, the recent opening of Rigs Fitness | Elite Performance and Functional Fitness Centre is the beginning of this.
As a professional cricketer, my day in day out job is wicket keeping. Therefore I regularly need to improve my speed, power, agility and reaction times. During my end of season break, the 1-on-1 strength and conditioning sessions that I’ve been doing with Sam at Rigs Fitness have helped me dramatically improve these areas of my game. Sam’s training is specific to my role in cricket and of the highest quality at all times. Every session is unique, different and pushes me to the limit.
Without a doubt some of the most impressive sessions I have taken part in. Sam is one of the best trainers I have been fortunate to work with, and with Rigs Fitness he really has a place where any athlete can thrive!
