SAM’S BIO

Having worked in the fitness industry for over 10 years, Sam has a wealth of knowledge and experience in a number of areas including Strength & Conditioning, Boxing, Sports Nutrition, Corporate Wellness, Personal Training and Class Instructing. In addition to being the Owner and Head Coach at Rigs Fitness, Sam has worked with numerous schools, colleges, universities, charities and large corporations in varying roles from fitness consultancy, event management and exercise programme design to corporate wellness & nutrition.

Sam’s been a competitive boxer for 10 years and is also highly experienced in Olympic Weightlifting, Self-Defence and Functional Training.

PAUL’S BIO

Paul’s worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years and been actively involved in setting up and running a number of successful, award-winning gyms. Specialising in elite level sports performance, he has a wealth of knowledge in areas such as boxing, kickboxing, personal training and class instructing.

In addition to being the Co-Founder and Fighting Fit Instructor at Rigs Fitness, Paul’s also the Owner and Head Coach at Combat Sports Centre, Head Coach at West Warwick’s ABC, National Coach for England Kickboxing, and the Owner of PhysKids Sports Camps.

Paul’s had a decorated kickboxing and boxing career, with 5 National and International Heavyweight Championship Titles to his name.

CHRIS’ BIO

Chris is a dedicated and enthusiastic Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coach, internationally qualified through NASM and well on his way to achieving his full UKSCA accreditation. Specialising in athletic development, Chris has and currently works with university, national and international standard athletes in multiple sports including Premier League Hockey, Championship Rugby and the UK’s top BUCS University Leagues. Alongside leading our newly launched Rigs Performance arm of the gym and our successful Athlete Development Programme, Chris also works as a S&C Coach at the University of Warwick. Chris continues to play hockey to a high standard, competing in the English National League for local club Olton and West Warwickshire.

KIM’S BIO

A fitness professional for over 10 years, Kim has extensive experience as a Personal Trainer and Class Instructor, working in major health clubs across the UK. She’s also a highly respected tutor and assessor on a range of personal training courses and works with multiple Sports Science and Sports Coaching colleges. In 2015 Kim moved to Turkey to run health and fitness sessions in one of the country’s top luxury resorts, before returning home in 2016 to join the coaching team at Rigs.

Kim’s been a National and International competitive dancer from the age of three; completed several Charity Runs and 10/15K courses; and she’s also part of the warm-up team for Birmingham half Marathon events.

DAVE’S BIO

An S&C and Weightlifting coach with a decade of experience and expertise, Dave was a competitive strongman for five years, performing at the highest level, before an injury prompted his early retirement.

With several years experience as lead S&C coach at University of Birmingham, Dave is experienced in dealing with athletes from grass roots all the way to international competitors. From needs analysis, through mechanical assessment, to effective programming and practice, the success of Dave’s athletes speaks for itself, both in development and in the competitive arena.

Dave is a fully accredited UKSCA coach, the ‘Gold Standard’ of S&C coaching, as well as a Head Coach with British Weightlifting.

ALEX’S BIO

After 5 years of self-teaching herself health and fitness, Alex gained her Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification – no easy feat on your own! She’s been at Rigs ever since and that work ethic is reflected in everything she does at the gym. Currently studying for her Level 3 Personal Training, she’ll be qualified in March when she’ll join the ranks of Rigs’ highly-respected personal trainers.

A keen runner, Alex has taken part in several half-marathons and obstacle runs. She’s been handed the reigns of Rigs’ annual Rough Runner event, taking charge of a 60 strong team of members and friends from the gym that’ll battle the 15km course in May.

DANI’S BIO

A hugely experienced trainer, Dani starting as a fitness instructor in 2004, developing skills as a lifeguard, group instructor and PT, before a Sports Science degree led her to become a PE teacher. While teaching Dani continued to instruct aerobics, water aerobics, circuits and spin classes in her spare time, and became heavily involved in Ashtanga yoga as part of her own training – an athlete in her own right, Dani played top level hockey for the Leeds Met Superleague team.

After travelling the world in 2012/13 and completing a Ashtanga yoga course in India, Dani returned with a passion to introduce athletes to the power of yoga, for both the mind and the body. Dani regularly attends workshops to gain new insight into her craft and is a qualified Pregnancy Yoga Teacher.

HAMZAH’S BIO

At just 19 years old, Hamzah is the youngest member of the Rigs team. But with a passion for sport and exercise held from an early age, and a Biochemistry degree in the oven, he has a bright future in the industry.

A young and lively instructor, Hamzah’s focus is on strength training and boxing, with several amateur bouts to his name already. He’s also an aspiring Olympic Weightlifter. And after training with our resident elite-level weightlifting coach, Dave Whittington, Hamzah aims to compete at the British Junior Championships later this year.

Used to pushing himself to the max every session, Hamzah expects nothing less from those he works with.

SCOTT’S BIO

Scott’s a Level 2 Gym Instructor with 3 years experience in functional training and military based circuit training. After undertaking several Royal Navy & Royal Marine courses, he’s bringing that expertise and competitive drive to Rigs.

To further develop his knowledge, Scott became an Assistant Coach through England Athletics in 2016, and is now a Team Leader in athletic clubs throughout the Midlands.

A keen runner, Scott’s completed many cross-country runs, half marathons and 13 mile endurance courses. He’s also lead several of the Rigs Tough Mudder teams over the past few years.
